The Arriva Fun Day and
Bus Driver of the Year
Local Final

It will soon be time for Arriva’s annual Fun Day at the Kent Showground on Sunday 11th May with a variety
of entertainment, together with the local finals of the Bus Driver of the Year competition which sees drivers from Arriva Southern Counties’ 13 depots competing
to go forward to the national final in Blackpool in September.

There will be side shows, craft stalls, promotional displays, musical entertainment, a classic vehicle display, traditional fairground rides and refreshments, so plenty to keep the whole family busy during the day.

All proceeds from the event will go to two local charities, the Kent Air Ambulance Trust and Help a Kent Child which is Invicta FM's charity. Admission costs just £1 per person, with free entry into a prize draw, which takes place at 3pm.

The showground is on the A249 between the M2 (Junction 5) and M20 (Junction 7) motorways, outside Maidstone. We have brought together plenty for people to see
and do during the day and, should the weather be inclement, many of the stalls and entertainment can go under cover inside the huge Kent Pavilion.

There is lots of free car-parking space and a FREE shuttle bus will run every 30 minutes to and from Maidstone town centre (Maidstone East Station, bus stop outside County Hall). A ‘bendy-bus’ which normally runs in London will give rides and we hope to have open-top bus rides too, courtesy of our sister companies Arriva London and The Original Tour.

We aim to give a good selection for everyone to see and do on the day, so if you’d like to bring a craft or produce stall, a display for a club or society you are involved with, musical entertainment, a vintage vehicle, or anything which you think our visitors would like to see then please contact us by e-mail. There is no charge to bring a stall, other than a voluntary donation to our charity collection on the day, and we can still accept applications until 7th May.

The Classic vehicle rally has been organised in conjunction with the North Kent Vehicle Preservation Group and will display a great range of cars, buses, commercial and military vehicles from yesteryear, all lovingly-restored by their owners. Already we have over 100 entries!

Some of Arriva's latest buses will also be on show, contrasting with the vintage ones
in the vehicle rally.

Come and join us on the day, help support our local charities and
cheer on our drivers in the Bus Driver of the Year competition!
